JooYoung Choi: Paracosmic Progress (Screen Tests)

Join artist JooYoung Choi as she shares new work created at DiverseWorks over the past month as her contribution to the exhibition Parliament of Owls. Choi’s ever-expanding body of work is set on a parallel planet she calls “The Cosmic Womb,” and is a deeply personal narrative influenced by her childhood that deals with issues such as adoption, race, loss, and liberation. While at DiverseWorks, Choi, sometimes with the assistance of visitors, has created props, dioramas, set pieces, and puppets for new video work. At this public program, she will discuss her practice and present a series of video screen tests.
