As audience members, we bring certain sets of assumptions when attending a live performance. How can we embrace the experience of watching contemporary dance together and begin to ask questions of the artist and ourselves?
Do you ask yourself what does contemporary dance mean? Or how dance operates in relation to other artistic disciplines? Ever wonder how artists create dance, or how their own background and identity inform the development and creation of their work? Then Pathway Guide is for you.
Jessica Ray Herzogenrath, PhD, researches and writes about American history, culture, performance, and dance. In fall 2015 Dr. Herzogenrath began teaching US History at Sam Houston State University and joined the dance department faculty in spring 2016. More information: https://jessicarayherzogenrath.org/
