Anthology, Meditations: A Marathon Performance of Pauline Oliveros Scores

Presented by Nameless Sound and DiverseWorks

In conjunction with the exhibition SonicWorks, Nameless Sound and DiverseWorks will partner to present a marathon of back-to-back performances by area musicians of scores by Pauline Oliveros: composer, performer, humanitarian, and important pioneer in the field of American experimental music. Acclaimed internationally, for more than four decades she has explored sound, forging new ground for herself and others. Oliveros was born and raised in Houston, Texas.

Anthology, Meditations has an indeterminate ending time, by design, but is estimated to span 5 – 6 hours. Pieces will be performed without pauses or intermissions and audience members are encouraged to come and go freely throughout the day. Prizes awarded for those who endure the entire performance – bring a pillow and get comfortable!

Anthology, Meditations celebrates Pauline Oliveros’ important role in the founding of Nameless Sound, as well as her connections to DiverseWorks’ history as an important presenter and champion of sonic art in Houston.
