Flicker Fusion
January 11 - February 23, 2008
Opening Reception: Friday, January 11, 2008
6 to 8pm
Since 1914 when the first animated film was made, artists across the globe have been providing us with access to animated worlds that live only in the imagination. Digital animation and virtual reality technology have propelled the art of animation to a level of realism and interactivity that was unimaginable just a few short years ago. Flicker Fusion turns DiverseWorks’ main gallery into a virtual multi-plex showcasing an impressive collection of international artists pushing the limits of animation technology alongside artists employing more traditional, hand-drawn techniques to create works that are by turn insightful, stimulating, and downright hypnotic. Artists in the exhibition feature Lars Arrhenius, Martha Colburn, Kota Ezawa, Brent Green, Bob Sabiston, Jeff Scher, Federico Solmi, Scott Teplin, Mungo Thomson, Wendy Wagner, Andrew Jeffrey Wright & Clare Rojas, Zhou Xiaohu, and Marina Zurkow.
